General description
Signal generator block can be used to generate different kinds of test signals. The following test signals are supported.
- Sine
- White noise
- Pink noise
- Gaussian noise
Sine generator generates one sine signal. The signal has magnitude, frequency and phase.
The white noise generates the white noise i.e. signal. The power of white noise signal is equal in all frequencies i.e. the power spectrum function is flat.
The pink noise is typically used in audio applications. The signal power of the pink noise signal decreases 3 db per octave
The Gaussian noise is commonly used in communication systems to model signal noise. The noise amplitude follows the Gaussian distribution i.e. it has the mean and standard deviation.
Parameters
Magnitude
Magnitude is the common parameter for all test signals. The magnitude is the signal amplitude. The magnitude is from 0 to 32767.
Frequency
The Sine test signal contains the frequency and phase selections. The frequency is the frequency of the sine signal. The maximum frequency depends on the sampling rate.
Phase
The phase tells the phase of sine signal. The phase can be adjusted between 0 and 2*PI.
Mean
Only used with Gaussian test signal. Tells the mean i.e. average of the test signal.
Std Dev
The standard deviation of the Gaussian noise signal
