Hi,

You are probably using Vista, Win7, Win 8 or Windows 10.
       If so, the "fix" is real simple.

Go to the desktop.

FIRST - GO TO YOUR RUNNING TASKS AND MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE
ANY OTHER "SCANCAT'S" RUNNING

If you DO find there are more than one "copy" of Scancat running,
this will also give the error ''in use by another application''
when trying to REINSTALL the software

First - simultaneously press CTRL+ALT+DEL to pull up the "Task manager".
Use "End task" on any "Scancat's" that are showing under
"Running Applications"
       Or
Running Processes
      Then .....

RIGHT CLICK on the Scancat-Lite Shortcut Icon

Choose "Properties"

Choose "Run as administrator"

You may also need to change the ''Compatibility" if running Windows 7 or higher
which is on the same properties window.

That will solve your problems

The notice about this is in the installation program, but from experience most people skip right past it <gg>

Also, make sure no other "scancats" are still running, as clicking and clicking again may try to start more than a single copy.

If that is the case..... press simultaneously CTRL+ALT+DEL
to pull up the "Task manager".

Use "End task" on any "Scancat's" that are showing under "Running Processes,
       Or,
Running Applications"

Then start Scancat normally using the Shortcut on your desktop
