I presume you tried the suggestions that I sent you on the below links?

SOmetimes Installing the USB is quirky

If you know how to go to your CONTROL PANEL and find the "HARDWARE PROFILES" - there you can find the USB that may say it's for your serial port, and remove it. UNPLUG THE 20-047 CABLE and then reboot/restart your computer.

IF you removed the correct "USB Driver", when you plug the cable in again you should get the "Found new Hardware" thing, and be SURE the CD that came with the device is IN the CD Drawer. POINT TO the "Driver" folder on the CD when the wizard asks you to "find the driver". Double CLICK on the Folder, and then hit NEXT. You should then see the *.inf file and that should fix it.

Normally the USB will set up the serial port as the NEXT HIGHEST one.
        so...
If you go to Scancat and SELECT RADIO menu, the blue box at the top will give you the numbers of available/existing comports.

If you can't figure which one it is, unplug the cable, wait for about 30 seconds and then hit "detect valid comm ports". THEN plug in the cable again, wait 30 seconds and hit "detect valid comm ports" (Again). The NEW number that appears is probably the one.

If that doesn't work, give me a call at 318-687-2555 (9am to 3pm Central M-F) - you must be at the computer with it all hooked up, or I can't step thru it with you or help much.

Somehow the software isn't getting the information from the scanner. Weather something is wrong with scan or the cd from the cable I don't know but its not working at all. Very possible I messed up with the installation on the cod from the cable. USB ports?

"Doesn't work" is rather vague. Most of the times is it not directly the fault of the software. I am sure we can help you "get it to work", but we need a "little bit more" information. Such as - the model of the radio you are using, and the cable you are using.

Most times reading one of these FAQ's will put you on the right track, and then you will be happy. Usually it is because you may not be using the correct COMM PORT in our program, If there are more than one comm ports listed, start at the HIGHEST number and then work your way to the lowest if you still don't get connected. Even if the cable you purchased is a USB connected cable, it still looks like a comm port to the computer and our software.

Look at these FAQ's first. Then let me know your progress.

I bought scancat from your web page. I also bought the cable from radioshack that connects the scanner to the PC/scancat.

Downloaded the software but doesnt work.

Since its not working I would request that I get a refund on this since it doesnt work

What "equipment" did you buy and what Program did you purchase? Once we know that I feel I can give you enough guidance to make it all work. Most of the time it's a problem with how to connect the equipment, not a problem with the software.
