==============================
Hi I received the CD today and installed it on my computer  when I open the program it says cannot detect any commports on this computer, I installed it on my laptop and I get the same message. Do you have any suggestions? Thank You  John

Dear fletch

You don't say what manufacturer's radio you have - is it Radio Shack Or Uniden
I need to know that before I can give you a final solution

If you cannot detect ANY comm ports, then USUALLY the drivers for the USB cable are not installed correctly
You would have to UNinstall the driver and reinstall the correct driver.

We have most drivers for download at this link
www.scancat.com/drivers

To give you the "best guess"
if you have a Uniden Radio,
1- If you are using a USB cable
You MUST be using a "real" Uniden USB cable, not some 3rd party cable
otherwise it may not work
2 - The Driver must have been installed BEFORE you plugged in the cable for the first time.
3 - Uniden came out with a new cable back in about June.
We started getting similar reports right after that.
It depended on if the customer had the right "driver",
and also we had to do a "fix" to make it work reliably with Scancat
You purchased from "us", so the Scancat software you just received already has the fix in it
but you still need to have the correct driver for it all to "work"

Here's the link to the latest UNIDEN driver version 1.8.19
http://www.scancat.com/prolific/PL2303Prolific_V1819_DriverInstaller.zip

If you have a Radio Shack Scanner,
1 - You MUST be using the "real" Radioshack 20-546 USB cable, not some 3rd party cable
2 - The Driver must have been installed BEFORE you plugged in the cable for the first time.

We have a series of Video tutorials at this URL

In Video #6 we cover how to correct most problems with the cables
