Hi

So many times when connection problems arise, customers begin to think it is "us". I'm not trying to dodge the issue, but 90% of the time when something like this occurs, it is a cable driver issue on that customer's computer. So unless the Software can see the "cable / Commport", then nothing is going to work in the software either. Since we don't make the cable, we can only help to a certain point....

I recall a while back I had read about a bug with the BCD325P2, where you have to update the firmware in order to get the connection part to work. I've looked for that but can't seem to find "it". But I did find a couple other things.

1 - Here is a link to that on Uniden's site-

http://info.uniden.com/UnidenMan4/BCD325P2FirmwareUpdate

Problem with this is that it might not be possible to upload the Firmware unless the USB port is working (Catch 22). But it's worth a try.

Just a FYI, but out of the two new radios from Uniden (BCD325P2, and BCD997P2), the only problems we have had reported to us are ALL from the BCD325P2.  You need to check the Firmware version in your radio.

2 - I found this on Radio Reference, which echo's the same problems YOU have been having... The guy making the post ALSO has Windows 8.

3 - Lastly, here is a link to a forum/group on Yahoo. You may want to go to that site and ask "them" about your issues, as I feel you're not the only one
        https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/BCD325P2/

I frankly think this is a Windows 8 Driver issue, and is something you need to contact Uniden on, and see what "they" have to say.
Here is the EMAIL for the guy at Uniden

=========================
Evening Jim,

The computer that I'm trying to run this on is using windows 8.1.  Should that be a problem?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers several times now and I'm having no success.  If followed the directions In the blue box in the lower right corner but nothing has worked yet.  The computer is still not seeing the radio.

I've looked at the YouTube tutorial, but that references a traditional windows program.

I'm going to try to call you tomorrow, but it's difficult to make the call from work.  Any advice you can email me would be appreciated.

Thanks much,

Steve

As explained in the last email, the driver looks for the "electronics" in the radio - which then assigns a commport to "it" every time it is plugged in.. Meaning = when you plug IN the cable, it will then "create" a comm port, and.... when you unplug the cable from the radio, the com port will "go away". Usually it will be the same comm port number
